So you’d think someone who’s been blogging for years now (I started my LiveJournal back in 2001) would be all narcissistic and know what to say about herself, right? But I really don’t.

I live in Raleigh, NC and work in RTP (that’s Research Triangle Park) in the Marketing Communications department for BÖWE BELL + HOWELL, a company that sells mail processing products and services. In my spare time I knit (I’m a sock-knitting fiend), dye (lots and lots of sock yarn, among other things), design my own patterns (or at least try to), design web pages (like this one!), and many, many other random things.

Fiber-arts-wise, I’m mainly a knitter, spinner, and a dyer. I also really enjoy designing. So far I’ve only designed small things like socks, bags, and hats, but we’re working up towards sweaters and other larger garments. :) I’ll keep you posted on my progress.

Career-wise, I’m heading down a far different path than I thought I would initially. My undergraduate degree is in biology, and I even did a few years of graduate work in neurobiology at UNC before I realized it just wasn’t for me. At my current job, I do everything from admin stuff like coordinating calendars and maintaining our shared file drive, to copyediting and collateral creation, to graphic design. I’m thinking my future goal is to head back to school, though, and earn a degree in graphic design. Yay for college loans! (So if I start selling my hand-dyed sock yarn, please buy lots so I can afford my education! :)
