I would very seriously consider spending that ~2000 on a different car, heck spend half that for a different car, you can very easily find a toyota beater for that cheap that you will be able to drive for several years without anything more than oil changes. if you really love your car, find a different mechanic, there are soo many rip off artists in the mechanic business! one more thing, if you took your car in originally to get an overheating problem fixed, and you paid 1100 to fix it, and the problem isn't fixed, then your mechanic is ripping you off. Did he fix it? No. Did you pay to have it fixed? Yes. See the problem? If you need to, bring in a guy friend, father, brother or anyone you know that has some car knowledge in with you next time, you are only getting taken advantage of because you don't know any better. I think maybe your little red car is about used up. Before you put more money into it, maybe you should give some serious thought to replacing it.
