Another 2007 Wedding
It’s a good thing this is a three-day weekend, because I had about two dozen things I needed to accomplish this weekend, and so far I’ve only managed to knock out about half of them. I feel like I’ve got all this time before I have to leave to go on my business trip to Chicago, but in reality, it’s only a few days away – I leave Friday morning. Between now and then, I have to line up someone to take care of the cats while I’m away, clean the apartment, do a butt-load of laundry, finish up a number of projects at work, pick up my dry cleaning, pack my suitcase, and get as much done on mom’s website as possible.
Last week was rough. Lots of late nights at work and very little play time. I did manage to read a few books, since I really need that wind-down time before I go to sleep at night after working the long hours that I’ve been putting in lately. Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman, and After Dark by Haruki Murakami. Neither were spectacular reads, but they were enjoyable at least. I wouldn’t clasify either as favorites from those authors, though.
Yesterday was a day of festivities, which came as a really nice change of pace after such a strenuous week. Friends of mine, Wes and Maggie, got married at the Rose Garden in Raleigh, and it was a beautiful affair. I had my camera with me, of course, and I took a few photos, which can be seen here: http://erdufylla.net/photo_journal/2007/09/wm-wedding.html.
It was a fun gathering of friends, and I got to see people I hadn’t seen in a while. Dina and Chad, who lived here for a few years but have since moved back to the Asheville area, came down for the wedding, and our friend Jen, who sorta fell off the face of the earth after she had a kid, was also in attendance.

The bride was glowing and beautiful:

And the groom looked confident and happy as he waited for his bride to walk down the aisle:

And as they walked back down the aisle after having been pronounced man and wife, it was obvious to everyone that they were exceptionally happy and absolutely meant for each other:

The reception was held at Wes and Maggie’s new house, in their back yard, and it was a fun evening filled with good food and good conversation. We got to catch up with Jen and visit with her daughter, Savannah (who only stayed for a little while before being carted off to play with her dad).

And aside from a minor attack of ants on my feet, it was a very, very fun day – one I really needed, and really enjoyed.

There are more stories I want to tell, but that’ll have to do for now, as it’s well past my bedtime, even if tomorrow is a holiday. A holiday only means that I don’t have to go into work, not that there is no work to be done. Ah, the joys of adulthood. I guess it’s called “Labor Day” for a reason, eh?

Wonderful, wonderful pictures! You could have a second career, you know. I particularly like the photo of Wes.

I can stop in to feed your cats starting on Monday if it would be helpful.
Wes says that it’s just because I want to see Seymour. There is also a bit of “I want to be helpful” in there, but that’s also partially right. :)

Hey Liz and Liz’s mom! I’ve been reading your knitting blog for a while now. Thought you should know. I don’t want to feel stalkery. I also have a new knitting blog myself, which is linked to above, I think. Anyways, hello! *waves*
