if I could drown in yarn

table_of_yarn.jpg

This is the yarn I would drown in. the end of the week was all the things that the rest of last week was not. Sleeping in (if you can call 8 am sleeping in — my back won’t allow more), time with the Bass boys, great food, good movies, and a visit from Lynne Vogel.

Lynne is a fiber artist, author of several books, spinner and dyer extraordinaire, who lives nearby in Suwanee, TN. When her newest book was announced, I invited her to the store for a book signing, which took place yesterday. She brought some of the sweaters from the book, some from her other book and a table full of hand dyed, handspun yarn.

There were a dozen or so people at the store and we all had a wonderful time. Lynne spoke a bit about working with energized singles, and got the crowd excited about a technique most of them hadn’t even known existed. She’s promised to come give a workshop in the technique as soon as we can compare schedules. She’s also interested in being part of next year’s knitter’s retreat!

It’s events like this that reinvigorate me, and make me so glad to be doing what I do. lynne_and_meg.jpg

PS Of all the things I could have bought from Lynne yesterday, who’d have thought I’d buy a hand spindle? It shocked even me!
