More on the SAS interview

Two posts in one afternoon! Oh, the horror! The nerve! The garrulousness!

No, but seriously, I wanted to write a short update on my interview at SAS. My first thought when I arrived was, “Wow, this place is really close.” (It’s about a 12-minute drive from my apartment.) My second thought was, “Wow, this place is gorgeous!” And it is. If I didn’t think I’d come off as a total git, I’d have taken pictures, it was so beautiful. As is, a photo collage ganked from the builder’s website will have to suffice:

I thought it was strange, at first, that they referred to the place as the “SAS Campus,” but after arriving there, I realize that’s exactly what it is. The place is huge! I was also expecting something more like an industrial park setting, but it was really stunning - the landscaping is beautiful, there’re art sculptures up all over the place, and the many, many buildings are stunning in an art-deco kind of way. My breath was even more taken away when I got inside the building I was having my interview in. Bright colors, tons of windows, lots of art up everywhere. I can totally see this place being a real pleasure to work in - it’s highly stimulating, and there’s a new source of inspiration around every corner.

The interview itself went really well, I thought (knock on wood). The more I heard about the position, the more it sounded a good fit for me, given my skills and interests. The two women who interviewed me were quite friendly and laid-back, and I could definitely see myself working well with them. I left the interview with a smile on my face, feeling pretty good about the whole thing.

I haven’t said too much about any of this to anyone - even my parents - up until now, because I really didn’t want to get my hopes up too much. Despite my best efforts, nothing during the whole job hunt has gone terribly well, and I didn’t want to get myself all excited about a position only to have it end with me being turned down once again. But I have a really good feeling about this one, and working there sounds like it’d be really ideal. I’m not entirely sure what the odds of me getting it are, but I believe I’m on a fairly short list, so… we’ll see. I should know by the end of the week. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
