And there is pansies. . .
. . . that’s for thoughts. - William Shakespeare
It’s Friday, and that means it’s time for some eye candy. It wasn’t hard to find something worth showcasing today - after a few days of cold, dreary weather, it was finally warm and sunny out again today. My apartment complex has some really beautiful landscaping (I truly love living here), and when I went to check my mail this afternoon, they had the most beautiful flowers out in the gardens around the main office.

There were pink and purple tulips (and the gardens near the entrances are bright ruby red) and pansies of every color imaginable. It was beautiful, and reminded me that, despite all the pollen, there are some really nice things about Spring, too.
Now that I’ve shared the eye candy and have drawn you in, I can freely (and sorrowfully) admit, I have no knitting to share. No spinning, no dyeing, no fiber pictures at all. I’m amazed at how busy I’ve been. You say to yourself, as you wake up at the crack of dawn to get ready for work, and you say to yourself again, when you’re dragging yourself home from work in the evening, If only I didn’t have to go to work every day, I’d get so much done! I’m here to tell you, people, that even if you don’t have a job, you still never have enough hours in the day to get everything done that you want to. Even if you get up early, stay up late, and don’t watch TV, those hours seem to melt away faster than an ice cube on the sidewalk in Alabama in August. I have been knitting, of course. Just nothing worth showing. So what have I been working on?
- Erdufylla.net - This page has sat dormant for longer than I care to admit. There used to be a nice page there, filled with links to all the other pages hosted on site… But that went down when I switched hosting services. And that was a long time ago. (Let’s just say they bill once a year, and I renewed a while back…) So last night, I finally sat down and created a new front page. It’s not my best design ever, and it’s still a little quirky, but at least it’s there.
- My online design portfolio - I’ve been applying for jobs, and some of the ones I’ve applied for are graphic design positions. They want a portfolio of works, so of course I obliged. When I first started putting it together, I didn’t think there’d actually be all that much to showcase. I was amazed how much there actually was once I got going. It’s a nice little site, and I’m actually pretty pleased with how it turned out.
- Job hunting - Monster, HotJobs, CareerBuilder… I’ve been scrounging through all these sites looking for job leads, posting applications, emailing potential employers. It’s tedious. All the listings start to blur together after you’ve stared at them for so long. But I did meet today with a former co-worker of mine who works for a job placement agency, and he’s hoping to find me something that’ll be a good fit soon. I’ll keep my fingers crossed. It was actually nice, because their office building is about 500 m from my apartment, as the crow flies, and less than a mile in driving distance. I’ll tell ya - it made finding the place a cinch!
Really, the only knitting-related things that I’ve done worth mentioning lately were to create a Flickr group for Secret Pal 10 and to sign up for Sockapalooza 4. (Have you signed up yet? Go! Now! Before it’s too lat!)
