and the mother becomes the child
Liz! You clever and sneaky person, you!![]()
There’s been a forced hiatus for the stealth project today, while we await further instruction from High Command. Not wanting to waste perfectly good knitting time, and not wanting to do anything other than knit, I decided to cast on for Liz’s Aurelia sock.
There, right off the bat, she’s teaching me something new. Me! The person who taught her to knit. Her knitting swami, her sensei, her mentor. Her mother even! The niftiest, neatest I-cord cast on I’ve ever seen in my life. A little fiddly, maybe, and certainly not fast. But perfect for socks. Since I keep telling my students that it’s not a race, I probably should heed my own words.
And go finish my I-cord cast on. Cause these are gonna be some amazing socks.

Yeah, I really liked the i-cord cast-on. It does take a while, since you’re essentially knitting 3 sts for every 1 you cast on, but… the end result is a really nice clean, simple edge.
So far I really like how that yarn is working up! Is that the Tuscan Romance? I can’t wait to see more! :)
