curses, foiled again!

a nice start to a nice sockbroken needle on the first cable

I love making socks, most of the time. This morning I started a new pair — the Celtic Braid socks from Cabin Fever. Liz pulled out the pattern when she was at home over Christmas, and it’s been sitting near my desk ever since. The yarn is a cotton/lycra blend I’ve had in my stash for a while, hand dyed by a woman in Utah. All was well for the first 8 rows, and then I got to the cables. Size one ebony needles from Lantern Moon. I love them! Except… Go ahead, click on the pictures, I’ll wait. BJ Bass says I ought to take them back to where I got them (that would be here, for the uninitiated). But in the meantime, no sock knitting for me.

On the bright side, I’ve discovered that my desk, with the morning sun filtered through the blinds makes an excellent place to photograph my knitting. Now if I just had some knitting to show.

  1. Yeah, it’s weird – I’ve read some things about the LM ebony needles snapping… I figured the ebony was even harder than the blondewood, but I have had NO problems with mine, and I’ve done a good bit of very tight knitting on them – cables, k3togs, etc. Very weird. Send them back to Lantern Moon – I believe their return policy is quite customer-friendly.
