The two-and-a-half-day socks
It’s been a long week. In some ways, it’s been a long year, and just as Friday marks the end of a very long week, I guess it sort of marks the end of a very long year. Let me back-track a bit.
I’ve been sick this week. I won’t go into the details of my chronic pain condition and the cold I’ve been fighting off for several weeks now, but suffice it to say I’ve been very sick. On top of being sick and in a lot of pain, I lost my job today. We all knew it was coming sooner or later – I just wish it had been later rather than sooner. The company’s been having some financial difficulties for a while now, and the combination of the fact that I made more than my boss really wanted to afford and the fact that I’ve been out for most of this week lead to this decision.
On the brighter side of things, through some grace of god, the only part of me that didn’t ache was my hands, thus allowing me to spend my time at home knitting. So, since Tuesday night, I’ve completed a pair of socks. Yay!
I guess this free time, aside from job-hunting, will give me a chance to dye up some yarn to sell to Yarn Expressions for mom to sell in the store. So that’s good, right? (I’m trying to keep a positive outlook here, people.)
